design & guide
Schematic design is a critical phase in any architectural or construction project, as it lays the foundation for the entire project’s success. A schematic design is the initial layout that represents the fundamental framework of the project’s plan. It is typically created after a thorough evaluation of the project’s functional, spatial and budgetary requirements.
a well-designed schematic
…will set the tone for the entire project and will ensure that the project is designed and executed efficiently, on-time and within budget. A cohesive schematic design plans the functional layout of the space and takes aesthetics and workflow elements into account - ensuring the most efficient space for the concept.
Throughout this process, C.C. will work closely with the client to ensure that their needs and preferences are considered and that the final schematic design meets their expectations. C.C. will also work with the architect to ensure that the recommended changes to the floor plans are feasible and can be implemented within the budget and timeline of the project.
the schematic guide
The schematic design guide is a comprehensive document that outlines the overall design concept and strategy for the project, including mood images, conceptual materials, and light furnishing recommendations ensuring a cohesive space.
The primary purpose of the schematic design guide is to provide guidance and direction for the project’s design team, including the assigned ID. The guide includes a variety of visual aids, such as mood images and new images that further develop the project’s story. These images help to convey the overall look and feel of the project and provide a visual reference for the design team to follow.
In addition to the mood images, the schematic design guide also includes conceptual materials and FF&E recommendations. These recommendations are provided to assist the assigned ID with the selection of materials, finishes, and furnishings for the project.
The conceptual materials may include samples of various materials, such as flooring, wall finishes, and countertops, to help the ID visualize how different materials will look in the space.
The schematic design guide is a collaborative effort between the design team and the client, with input from all stakeholders to ensure that the final design meets the project’s goals and objectives. The guide will typically include multiple design options, each with its own set of mood images, conceptual materials, and light furnishing recommendations. The client will review these options and provide feedback, which the design team will use to refine and finalise the design.
